Patriots advocate helping the poor (liberal) while making dependency an unattractive alternative (conservative).
Patriots believe in tougher penalties for criminals (conservative) while eliminating execution as a form of punishment (liberal).
Patriots believe America should maintain a strong military presence in the world (conservative), but not get involved in foreign civil wars (liberal).
Patriots believe America was founded on the belief in a just, peaceable and tolerant God (conservative), yet legislation and government-sponsored policies and practices must be void of religious influence (liberal).
To know a person's political bent, we must evaluate four
distinct sets of beliefs: “Fiscal View,” “Social View,” “National View” and “World View.”
As we have demonstrated, Patriots do not fit into the conventional pigeon holes. So then, what are we if we are not “Liberal” or “Conservative”?
We can better answer this question by first enumerating the 12 key traits and characteristics of a “Patriot.”
The 12 Key Traits and Characteristics of a Patriot
Truths
- Patriots believe in a one-class society in which all people are equally valuable as human beings.
Note: Although every American is born a first-class citizen (with equal rights), performance matters. It is up to the individual to retain his or her first-class citizenship by being a self-reliant, law abiding, service providing, taxpaying asset of society.
- Patriots believe the U.S. Constitution is supreme and its authority must never be superseded by
some entity (like the United Nations), circumstance (including Martial Law), or decree (by an out-of-control
president).
- Patriots believe our rights are innate and do not come from government. The U.S. Constitution only protects them.
Note: The rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not inalienable as claimed in the “Declaration of Independence.” They may be forfeited based on our performance as citizens. Only the matter of equality is truly inalienable (permanent). By claiming “equality” comes from God, it cannot be taken away – as it often is in godless countries (like China and Russia).
- Patriots believe government is to serve the people as opposed to the people serving government. However, the services government provides must be limited to those that are necessary.
Ethics
- Patriots are honorable.
- Patriots are hard-working.
- Patriots are neighborly.
- Patriots are patriotic.
Systems
Patriots believe a republican form of government is superior to a democracy.
Note: In a democracy, citizens in the majority make the rules. Consequently, those in the minority are oppressed. In a republic, citizens in the majority do not make the rules. In fact, they have no more
authority than those in the minority. Consequently, there is no such thing as a “minority” in a republic, and no citizen is disadvantaged or oppressed.
Patriots believe a “Fair-Market Economy” is superior to socialistic policies and practices.
Note: America's economy is regarded as a “Fair-Market Economy” as opposed to a “Free-Market Economy” because rules to protect the consumer are imposed by government (that serves much like a referee in sports).
- Patriots believe all citizens should be subjected to the same moral code (justice).
- Patriots believe self-reliance should be the goal of every citizen.
Analysis
The 12 key traits and characteristics of Patriots are identical to the ingredients comprising America's special recipe for success. These are the ingredients that made America the greatest nation on Earth.
Note: The recipe that made America successful is explained in the book A More Perfect Union - Part 1.
So what label is most appropriate to describe the political bent of “Patriots”?
Because members of the Patriot Party® endorse America's
special recipe for success, it is appropriate to identify our political bent as “Patriot.”
Yes, we already go by the label “Patriot” because we are members of the Patriot Party®. However, the label “Patriot” is also appropriate to identify our politics because we stand with America, by America, and for America.
The only question left unanswered is this:
Are you a “Liberal,” “Conservative,” or “Patriot”?
