If we allow Democrats and Republicans to conduct business as usual, America's national debt will grow until America fails. We cannot allow this to happen. This plank was deduced from a breakthrough in science. Like using the correct equation when doing math, applying a new understanding of human nature will resolve all of America's social problems. Sending Patriots to Congress will insure politics, big business, political correctness and special interests do not come before America.
We will perform as a team and implement the party platform at once.…
The Democratic and Republican monopolies are comprised of special interest groups with competing agendas. In short, they are too diverse to put forth concrete platforms to which all party members agree.
Problems with America's Political System
It is best that we begin with an analogy. Over the years, the major sport leagues (the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB) have made adjustments in the way their respective game is played. For example, the NBA added the 3-point shot and the 24-second clock. MLB modified the strike zone and ball and bat specifications several times. The NFL added instant replay, challenges by the coaches, and so on. Most significantly, each of the major sports changed the way their post season is conducted. One after the other, they modified their playoffs to include additional teams called "wild cards."
The question we must ask is, “Why did the various major leagues make modifications to their respective sport?” The answer is obvious. The changes they made were meant to increase the quality of the fan experience. The success of the major leagues is dependent on the satisfaction of the fans. Because of the changes made, their games have become polished, elegant and, most important, rewarding.
In contrast, America's political system is noisy, expensive, divisive, inefficient, corrupt, ineffective, voter unfriendly, and counterproductive. Representatives are continually campaigning and raising money. Having to pander for votes compromises their integrity and causes them to break their promises. Because the political process is enormously expensive, only the wealthy and well-connected are able to participate. Lobbyists get in the way of good policy, and special interest groups buy influence and modify legislation to the detriment of citizens.
After all the money, effort and participation by the voters, little gets accomplished because those who get elected are not in agreement on what should be done. Compounding the lack of direction is the behind-the-scenes shenanigans that go on as one politician supports the interests of another in trade for getting favors in return. It is a nasty business full of problems and uncertainty.
Note: Even if you disagree with some of the analysis to this point, you have to admit the present system has failed us. Our growing social problems, 18+ trillion dollar debt, and enormous yearly deficits are unmistakable indicators the present system needs at least some repair. In fact, over 90% of citizens agree America's present political process needs to be overhauled. So why does Congress not make modifications to America's failed political system? Do they not care about the “fan experience”?
Why Congress has not changed America's Political System
Most people believe Congress is prevented from making the necessary adjustments. However, this is not the case. Our present political system is not prescribed in the U.S. Constitution. Consequently, it can be modified quickly. So then, why is it members of Congress do not modify the present political system to resolve the glaring problems with it? The answer is revealing.
Congress has done a wonderful job over the years breaking up the monopolies in business. Monopolies always lead to higher prices, lower quality, poorer service and limited choices for the consumer. In contrast, breaking the monopolies always results in lower prices, higher quality, better service and more choices. Today, only two monopolies remain in America. They are the Democratic and Republican Parties. So then, why is it Congress will not break the two remaining monopolies in America, insuring lower cost, higher quality, better service and more choices for citizens?
Monopolies don't dismantle voluntarily
First, it should be noted, in the history of the world, only one monopoly has ever self-dismantled. That monopoly was the absolute authority the first representatives had when they gathered to fix the problems with the Articles of Confederation that defined the original America.
The representatives from the respective States could have formed a monarchy in which they would have been aristocrats, and some were inclined to do so. Others wanted to form a democracy and put control in the hands of the prevailing majority opinion (whim). James Madison argued against forming a monarchy or democracy. He argued in favor of forming a republic.
The brilliance of forming a Republic
By forming a republic, elected representatives would do what is best for their District or State as opposed to the people directly. In doing so, all the people would be represented equally. Because the citizen majority would not have an advantage, tyranny against those in the minority would be circumvented. In effect, by forming a republic, after elections are over, the citizen majority would have no more influence than the lone individual.
Note: Contrary to the indoctrination perpetrated on the American public, America is not a Democracy. It is a Republic. One of the obligations of our representatives is to know the difference and to explain to citizens the obligations of citizenship in a Republic. The obligations of citizens in a Republic are very different from those in a Democracy. Plank #5 addresses this issue.
Today, Congress is comprised mostly of Democrats and Republicans. They control the political process and they are not about to give up their exclusive control over it. Yes, the Democratic and Republican representatives today could attempt to emulate the honor, humility and forward thinking of the framers of the U.S. Constitution (the founders of America). Unfortunately, history reveals they are not made of the same "stuff." So what can we do?
The solution requires a two-step process. Step 1: We must discover what modifications will fix the problems with the present system. Step 2: We must devise a way to implement the needed changes despite the resistance of the Democrats and Republicans who control Congress.
How to fix America's Political System
Before we can discover how to fix the present system, we have to understand it better. We need to recognize the following facts:
America's political system is arbitrary and not fixed.
America's political system is not a "Two-Party System." It is a "Multi-party System" that has become monopolized by two bully parties. Henceforth, we will refer to it as a "Monopolized Multi-party System."
The present political system has gone awry because of human nature. The adages are correct that power is both addictive and consuming.
We must determine the point and purpose of voting to know how to fix the political process.
The point and purpose of voting
The founders built into the U.S. Constitution several checks and balances. The Executive Branch (President), the Legislature (Congress) and the Judiciary (Supreme Court) all have their separate but equally important roles. Citizens have a role as well. In fact, "Elections" is the little-known fourth check and balance. Whereas the President leads the nation, Congress makes the laws and the Supreme Court tests them for constitutionality, the intended role of the citizenry is to choose the direction (and therefore the future) of America.
Choosing the direction (the future) of America is the only power and authority held by the citizenry. We cannot make the laws (Congress), administer them (President), or insure they are congruent with the Constitution (Judiciary). In fact, because America is a Republic and not a democracy, citizens have no power or authority after elections are over. Our only authority and power is to choose the direction of America that will determine the future for our children and subsequent generations.
Although we are not reminded of our exclusive role, only we the people have the power and authority to decide what kind of country we want today and for the future. Specifically, do we want America to be a debtor nation of weak-minded lethargic dependents who go through life with one hand out and the other in their pocket, or do we want America to be a vibrant prosperous nation of ambitious self-starters in which everyone is expected to bring something to the table, and dependency is discouraged?
Note: Moving America to the "left" will "raise the minimum standards of comfort" through "entitlement programs" meant to help the less fortunate and supposed disenfranchised. Moving America to the left leads to bigger government, higher taxes for anyone who has more than the average citizen, increased dependency on government for food, shelter and healthcare, and greater debt. In contrast, moving America to the "right" is to advocate policies that encourage self-reliance in which every able-bodied citizen is expected to be self-sufficient, and dependency is an unattractive alternative.
The point is not which direction is correct or best. The point is that the determination of where to take America (the direction) rests in the citizenry through the power of the vote. Just as we do not want to curtail the power and authority of any of the three branches of government, we must honor the power and authority that was given to citizens.
Note: We must remember this fact as we continue our analysis of how to fix the political system.
Why political monopolies are ineffective
In our present political system, citizens are not given the choice to choose the direction and future of America. Instead, citizens are forced to choose among candidates. They are “Independent Operators” each with their own nebulous agenda. They promise to get things done without guaranteeing results. They cannot guarantee results because their fellow party members are not in lock step. They each operate independently.
Note: Both the Democratic and Republican Parties each self-describe themselves as a “Big Tent.” What they mean is they welcome all voters, even if they should have conflicting ideas and agendas. The idea is to band together to win elections.
The term “Big Tent” is code for “monopoly.” The problem is, there are so many factions within the Democratic and Republican monopolies, they cannot put forth concrete planks in an identifiable Platform.
Note: The Democratic and Republican monopolies are so varied their members cannot agree on a specific set agenda.
Because the Democratic and Republican monopolies do not have a Party Platform with specific concrete Planks, their candidates have to campaign on their own ideas. This forces Democrats and Republicans to raise money and pander for votes, modifying what they say to win support. If they could stand on their party platform, the need to campaign, fundraise and pander would be eliminated.
Note: The problem with our present "Monopolized Multi-party System" is the lack of Party Platforms with Planks that are specific and certain to which all party members agree.
Benefits from breaking the monopolies
Because the Democrats and Republicans monopolize America's multi-party system, they virtually eliminate the competition. Without a debate over who has the best plan for resolving social problems, the Democrats and Republicans end up fighting each other for control of Congress. As they continually work to gain strategic advantages in a game for power, the concept of what is best for America becomes lost. Competing Party Platforms will challenge the major parties, causing them to redirect their efforts to resolve problems rather than merely win elections.
How the Democratic and Republican Parties retain control over the political process.
The Democratic and Republican Parties retain their control of the political process by using 4 ingenious tactics.
They continually mislabel America's political system by referring to it as America's "Two-party System." This label is outright false. America's political system is a "Multi-party System that has become monopolized by two bully parties." America's present political system is a "Monopolized Multi-party System."
They refer to competing parties as “third parties.” This is a derogatory term suggesting that competing parties are lesser in stature. The truth is all political parties are equally valid and should be regarded as “competing political parties.”
The Democrats and Republicans put fear into voters, falsely claiming that all parties will split the vote. In truth, “Splinter Parties” and “Sister Parties” will split the vote. True “Third Parties” will not.
Because the Democratic and Republican Parties control the public purse strings, they have sidestepped the role of their delegates to select the candidates that are to represent their party in general elections. In effect, they have made their candidate selection process public.
Note: Adding insult to injury, they force the public to cover the cost of their primary elections that helps them monopolize the system in preparation for the real vote. This tactic fools citizens into thinking that only Democratic and Republican candidates are legitimate. The "primary elections" further monopolize the press and airwaves with their party name and the names of their candidates. This is indoctrination at its highest level. Kudos to their marketers and manipulators for a job well done, and shame on you and me if we allow the sham to continue. Our children deserve better, and it is up to us to set things right.
The Solution
Of the 4 tactics employed by the Democratic and Republican Parties past and present, tactics #1 through #3 are at the sole discretion of Democrats and Republicans. They can change the language they use so they represent the political system and its participants fairly and accurately.
Note: We would be naive to think they might suddenly be accurate and fair. A sudden change in the labels they use would be an admission they have been duping the public for decades.
Regarding tactic #4, the public with the assistance of the media can ask the Democratic and Republican Parties to pick up the tab for their own arbitrarily held voluntary Primary Elections.
Note: The purpose of party delegates is to choose among those who wish to represent their party in general elections. This is a private process for all parties but those who control the public purse strings. The fact the Democratic and Republican Parties force the public to pay for their candidate selection process is an insult and a sham of the highest magnitude. It is the ultimate example of organized systematic indoctrination.
At the very least, the Democratic and Republican Parties should have to cover the cost for facilities, police, insurance, and so on. If we want them to stop the process immediately, we should charge them for the inconvenience to the public. Giving them the option of paying each city millions of dollars to air their laundry in public would force the Democrats and Republicans to conduct their affairs privately as do all other parties.
…Standing on the party platform eliminates campaigning, fundraising, entourages, backroom deals, lobbyists, special interests, politics, pandering and pork.…
The Patriot Party is Platform Driven. In short, we have a plan and all Patriots agree to implement that plan in its entirety at once. The benefits are obvious and enormous. Some of the benefits are listed here in no certain order.
Patriots do not campaign.
Patriots do not need big money. They do not fundraise.
Patriots have no need for an entourage comprised of speech writers, image makers, public relations specialists, advertising consultants, staff managers, and volunteers.
Patriots have no need to travel extensively.
Patriots have no need to pander for votes.
Patriots cannot be influenced by financiers and special interest groups.
P
Regular citizens can become involved with public service. You don't need to come from money, have a storied resume, break the bank or sell their soul.
Citizens always know what they will get when they vote for a patriot.
With a preset agenda already prepared and approved by the citizenry, things will get done quickly.
…Imagine Patriots from both sides of the political aisle working only for America.
The Patriot Party® appeals to Americans on both sides of the political aisle.
The danger of an alternative party splitting the vote with the major party to which it is most closely aligned is real in some instances, and must be avoided. Certainly, we must not muck up an already troubled system by splitting the vote and awarding victory by default to the opposing major political party.
What citizens are not told is there are three kinds of alternative parties. Although two kinds of alternate parties can be problematic in handing victory to the opposing major party, one kind of alternate party will NOT split the vote.
The following link is taken from the link labeled “Dispel Objections” on the vertical menu in the section “The Plan.” It is made available here for your convenience.
In summary, the Patriot Party is not a “Sister Party” or a “Splinter Party.” It is a true “Third Party.” As such, it is fundamentally different from the Democratic Party and Republican Party. Because it appeals to moderate Americans on both sides of the political aisle (rejecting the worse elements on both sides), it will not muck up the system.
